Myringoplasty

Myringoplasty is an operation to mend a hole in the ear drum.  Usually the tissue to mend the hole comes from the patient.  

Post aural (behind the ear) myringoplasty makes a cut behind the ear for access. It is the standard technique

Endoscopic techniques avoid the cut behind the ear but are usually suitable for smaller holes

The success rate is about 80% overall but this depends on a number of factors including the size and position of the hole
