Microtia

Microtia (literally small ear) can occur by itself or with other congenital abnormalities.  The small outer ear (pinna) is often associated with abnormalities of the middle ear with a small or closed ear canal and abnormalities of the eardrum and ear bones (ossicles)

For Bilateral (both sided) microtia the current best treatment is usually a bone anchored hearing aid and a rib reconstruction of the pinna.  David Gault has the most UK experience of this technique
